Lake Excavating Ltd. has been in the heavy equipment construction business since 1964 and currently has an up to date equipment fleet with over 40 pieces of major equipment.

Civil - Road building, water/sewer, utilities, major site works and design build.

Mining - Major improvements, major reclamation works.
Forestry - Road Building, road maintenance, silviculture and deactivation, harvesting and trucking.

Philosophy of Business

Our aim is to approach all projects, regardless of size, value, nature or customer with methodical execution and professionalism in order to ensure timely completion, quality of work and profitability. We believe that these are key elements of ongoing relationships that have built our firm and will continue to forge our future.

Our management team recognizes that with any large scale project, changes to the scope of work are a normal occurrence and that our flexibility to accommodate these changes is essential to maintain sufficient schedule demands. We also welcome extra work and force account items as the work facilitates additional revenue to the company. We do not however, buy into the widespread theory of “first get on the job, and then make it on the extras” as many contractors seem to attempt today.

An integral part of our strategic plan is that a professional and non-confrontational attitude towards the stakeholders on all of our projects furthers our goals outlined above. We also strongly believe that all parties involved in a project should be respected for their specific areas of expertise and are a valuable resource to be utilized to enhance project fluidity.

Competitive Advantages

A vast majority of our projects within the Industrial Site Works and some of the Forestry related projects are done through the bid process. This means that bids are submitted and through this public tendering process the most competitive (ie: lowest price) is typically the successful contractor, therefore indicating that our company is indeed competitive within this field of work. Most of these projects require Bid Bonds and Consent of Surety in order to be eligible, Lake Excavating Ltd., maintains a strong bonding capacity.

Lake Excavating Ltd., owns a Navajo 310 airplane (7 Passengers) which enables us to facilitate supervision, supply of materials, and mobility of experienced operators to jobsites which may be either inaccessible in some cases by normal modes of transportation, or they are remote locations that would otherwise take a substantial effort to get to otherwise.
